Seeing as there was no way we were going to get past the gate with the large No Trespassing sign without being seen by either cars on the highway or other houses around us, we tried a different approach.
We went across the street and asked the people who lived there who owned the abandoned house. Apparently, they were watching over the place for somebody who was currently in a nursing home, and after we explained what we were doing, they gave us permission to explore the entire house and grounds.
Now we decided on calling this the Swamp House because of the horrible land it was built on. It's in a little dip in the middle of a field and surrounded by a stream. The ground leading up to and around the house and shed is mushy and soft, with several water-filled holes not unlike the ground in a swamp. Around the front is the remains of an old car (see bottom of this page for more info on that), and out back was a shed with some broken old equipment and rats inside, and another car of unknown make.
Upon approaching the house itself (from the direction of the shed) you're confronted with old wagons, plows, and other remants of cars, tractors, and miscellanious farm equipment.
Now the house itself was very old, and had fallen into an entirely natural state of decay, with no graffitti in sight. Almost all of the windows were left intact, although the roof had collapsed mostly in onto the top floor. Vegetation grew up very dense around the house making it hard to get to without getting soaked from the boggy ground.
Inside, the house seemed to have sunk about a good foot or so on one side, leaving a horribly tilted staircase (which we climbed anyway, after testing it) up to the second floor. We didn't trust the second floor itself though as it had likely been exposed to the elements for years because of the collapsed room. I got a picture from the staircase of the entrance to the bathroom and a nice layer of fungus, mold, and pigeon shit that was on the floor.
Downstairs was a collection of two unidentified room with some pieces of seemingly undisturbed (but rotted) furniture inside, and a livingroom where various junk such as old couches and the house's TV had been piled up. The kitchen seemed to stem off the living room with the stove in a little alcove which also held the entrance to the basement stairwell. Unfortunatly we were unable to see the basement because the fridge had either fallen or been pushed down the staircase, effectively blocking the entrance completely.
NEW INFO ADDED: Thanks to Doug Frechette, the old cars in the gallery have been identified. The dark-coloured one is a 1964 Ford Custom 500, and the blue one is a 1968
Chevy Impala four door hardtop.
